WILL OF ROBERT LINDLEY OF CASTLEFORD 1647

 In the name of god Amen, the second of December one thousand six hundred fortie six, I Robert Lynley of Castleford in the countie of Yorke yeoman sicke in bodie but of perfect remembrance, thankes be to Almightie God, and calling to remembrance the mortalitie of mankind and that it is appointed for all men once to dye, that I may be fitter for death when it shall please god to call me I doe make and ordaine that this is my last will and testament in maner and forme following. First I comend my soule into the hands of Almightie god might Creator and Redeemer hopeing by his death and resurrection to have the free pardon permission and forgiveness of all my sinns And my bodie to the earth from whence it came and which is the mother of us all and I desire that I may be buried next the quier doore in the church yeard of Castleford.  Item I give unto Thomas Lynley my brothers sonn three pounds six shillings eight pence. Item I give to John Lynley sonn to my brother Willm Linley deceased three pounds six shillings and eight pence, to be paid to either of them within one yeare next after the decease of me said Robert Lynley and Elling my wife. Item I give to Willm Linley five shillings to be paid to him within one yeare after the decease of me and Elling my wife. Item I give to Jennitt Lindley daughter to my brother Willm Linley fortie shillings to be paid her within one year after the decease of me is said Robert Lynley and Elling my wife. Item I give to Alice Makeing my servant one stand bed at the stares head in the chamber. Item I give twentie shillings to the making of a footway or cause (sic) this from Domine yate towards the Churchbalke and I desire Thomas Gibson and John Pinder to see the same performed and discharged according to the intent of my will within one yeare after the decease of me said Robert Lynley and Elling my wife. All the rest of my goods unbequeathed or disposed of, my debt is paid and funerall expenses discharged I give and bequeath unto Elling my wife and Mary Lynley my brothers daughter whome I make joynt executors of this is my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and yeare above written.

 Memorandum that before the sealeing and deliverie hereof I give unto Thomas Gibson and John Pinder either of them five shillings to be paid them within one yeare after the decease of me and Elling my wife for the trust reposed in them wherein I desire them to see my legacie of twentie shillings for the highway discharged. Item I give unto Elling Skelton my grandchild a bond of tenn pounds wherein Dr Bradley of Honley standeth bound to me in. Item I give to Willm Lindley my brothers sonn my closit which standeth at the East end of the South Alley in Castleford Church.
